We’ll Make the Sparks Fly For You!

The Oberentfelder firm Argotec AG, specialized in wire EDM has made a further investment in its machine pool. The new Robofil 6050 uses revolutionary Twin Wire technology and can switch from a thick to a thinner wire during operation. With this type of dual wire EDM machine, very fine areas or sharp edges can be produced, greatly expanding the range of possibilities. Thanks to the large work area, voluminous parts can now also be processed. There are only a few Robofil 6050 machines in Switzerland – now one of them is the latest addition to the large pool of machines owned by Argotec AG.

Mit den Galileo-Satelliten fliegen erodierte Atomuhren-Gehäuse der Schweizer Firma Argotec durch den Orbit.

The Wire EDM company Argotec AG, Oberentfelden supplies the inner case for the atomic clock in the Galileo satellites. The components shaped by wire EDM are part of the Atomic clocks made by the company SpectraTime, Neuenburg, which have already been successfully installed in GIOVE-B satellites. They are considered to be the most accurate atomic clocks in orbit. The European Space Agency ESA, is building its own satellite navigation system with Galileo satellites. Accurate positioning and navigation relies on signal reception from at least four satellites that are synchronized to one billionth of a second accuracy. The atomic clocks are therefore some of the most important components of the ESA satellite navigation system.
