EMD: Unlimited Precision and Variety

Since the mid-1980s, there have been virtually no limits to the possibilities for metal working by wire and die-sinking EDM. These techniques can be used to produce any required mould or die. High-precision material removal is achieved by the power of the arc directed at the electrode. The advantages of this method are extremely high surface quality and precision, and the possibility of subsequently making starting holes in hardened materials. The enormous flexibility of the technique continues to open up new areas of application.

For a very wide range of processes, wire EDM frequently offers the more economical solution. We produce high-quality parts for classic dies and moulds in accordance with our customers’ specific requirements. Our product range includes complex workpieces for constructional engineering as well as ultrahigh-precision prototypes and small parts. We use wire EDM to produce electrodes as tools for die-sinking EDM.

In constructional engineering whenever cutting is unsuitable or uneconomical, EDM turns out to be a reliable solution. We erode forging dies, press moulds, and injection moulds and dies in accordance with your individual requirements. And of course we offer consultancy at every stage, from product development through to successful, accurate erosion.

Blanking and Punching Tools

EDM offers virtually unlimited possibilities for the fabrication of all the parts involved in the manufacture of blanking and punching tools. Wire and die-sinking EDM techniques allow realisation of very complex designs. In conjunction with our customers, we develop pilot lots designed for practical use.

The tools we erode have a long service life for economical production of large series. In collaboration with our customers, we develop specially designed tools for specific stages in the manufacturing process.

Our customers are all manufacturers of blanking and punching tools, or production units producing blanked parts for construction of apparatus and machines and for mass-produced articles.

Dies and Moulds - Moulded Parts of High Dimensional Accuracy

Wire EDM is now an indispensable technique in economical production processes for moulds. High-precision contours, gears and fine ribbing are possible only by means of wire EDM. The technique also facilitates manufacture of round, flat or mould/ed ejectors.

We cut high moulds (of up to 400 mm) from a single piece. Contoured mould edges are made from a single sheet. We produce one-offs / parts for pressure die casting and injection moulding, moulds for plastic and rubber parts and forging dies for deep drawing of mass-produced plastic articles.

Our partners are manufacturers of dies and moulds working for production units, specialist mechanical engineering departments and equipment manufacturers for the consumer sector.

Medical Engineering - Precision for Greater Functionality

The majority of surgical instruments are either one-offs or produced in small series, and are developed in collaboration with their users. They include a wide range of special tools, such as equipment for accurate insertion of implants.

We produce as one-offs — preferentially using wire EDM — dimensionally accurate implants (jaw and tooth implants, and joints), and also plates, nails and screws for orthopaedic use. We also make these as series parts, with no loss of precision.

Our customers are specialised medical engineering firms that develop products and supply doctors and hospitals.

Micromechanics - Ultrahigh Precision in All Areas of Micromechanics

Ultrahigh-precision watch parts and small electromechanical parts can be made either with great difficulty, or not at all, by the conventional methods. Our long experience in wire and die-sinking EDM is also in demand for the development of micromotors.

We manufacture one-offs and series parts for the watch industry, for use in high-precision watches in the higher price ranges. High-precision series parts are also required by the electronics industry.

A precision part must go through several stages before it is released for series production: prototype fabrication, testing, production of a pilot lot for incorporation into the clockwork mechanism, and operational testing. Only if the results are satisfactory can the green light be given to limited series production, e.g., 1000 pieces for a particular type of watch.
